Dr. Hyuk Been Kwon

Dr. Hyuk Been Kwon is a theologian and pastor with extensive academic and pastoral experience in both Korea and the United States. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Talbot School of Theology (since September 2023) and as the Senior Pastor of Seed Church (since November 2018). His pastoral ministry includes previous leadership at Irvine Onnuri Church (2012–2018), Gangdong Onnuri Church (2010–2011), and Onnuri Church (2004–2009), among others. Earlier in his career, he served in various pastoral roles in both the U.K. and Korea, including positions at Cambridge Korean Church, Nung-gok-Eung-Am Church, and Birmingham Korean Church.

Academically, Dr. Hyuk Been Kwon earned his Ph.D. in Philosophical Theology from the University of Cambridge (2005), his M.A. in Systematic Theology from the University of Birmingham (1998), his M.Div. from the Presbyterian College & Theological Seminary (1996), and his B.A. in Philosophy from Hanyang University (1992).
He was ordained by the Seobuk Synod of the Presbyterian Church in Korea on October 29, 1999. His areas of specialization include Philosophy of Religion and Systematic Theology, with additional competence in Postmodern Theology, Medieval History & Philosophy, Epistemology, Metaphysics, Apologetics, Contemporary Theology, Pastoral Theology, Church Planting, and the Missional Church. Dr. Hyuk Been Kwon is married to Jiyun Kim, and they have three children: Joy (19), Andrew (17), and Jane (12).
